Can't connect your trading account?

If you're having trouble connecting your trading account, don't worry. There are several common reasons why this can happen.

Below are the steps to troubleshoot the issue.

1. Make sure you use your trading password

If you're trying to connect your trading account, it's critical that you use your trading password, not your investor account password.

What's the difference?

  • The trading password allows you to trade and manage positions.

  • The investor password is only for viewing your trades, not for taking any action.

2. Verify the server, account number, and password

A common mistake is entering incorrect information when trying to connect to your account.

Check the following:

  • Server: Make sure the server you are connecting to is correct.

  • Account number: Verify that the account number is spelled correctly and there are no errors.

  • Password: Confirm that the password is correct and that there is no confusion between upper and lower case.

3. You are using a signals account

If your account is classified as a Signal account, you will not be able to trade directly from it.

Solution: You must close all open trades in the signals account before attempting to connect a trading account.

4. Your MT4 password is too long

If your MT4 account password is longer than 15 characters, you won't be able to log in properly.

Recommendation: Make sure your password is shorter than 15 characters. If necessary, change your password in the MT4 platform.

Quick Fix

If you've followed these steps and verifications, you should be able to connect your account without any issues. Always remember:

  • Use your trading password

  • Make sure your server, account number, and password are correct

  • Verify your account isn't classified as a signal account

  • Use an MT4 password with fewer than 15 characters
