How has the method of charging commission in MetaTrader terminal changed?

Changes effective from April 5, 2021

Starting from April 5, 2021, a new commission charging method was introduced for Market Execution accounts in MetaTrader 4.

Previously, the commission was charged at the time of opening a trade. Now, it is charged when the trade is closed.

Before the change

  • When opening a position, the commission was immediately deducted.

  • It appeared in the "Trade" tab, under the "Commission" column.

  • Example: Opening a 1.00 lot trade on EUR/USD would result in an instant $7 USD commission ($0.07 per 0.01 lot).

The commission showed as a negative value upon opening the position.
No additional charges were applied when closing the trade.

After the change

  • Now, you don’t pay commission when opening the trade.

  • The commission is charged only after the trade is closed.

  • It appears in the “Account History” tab, under the “Commission” column.

📌 Important: The amount of the commission remains the same, only the timing has changed.

Practical example

✅ Before

  • You open a 1.00 lot trade on EUR/USD.

  • $7 USD is immediately deducted.

  • Your balance reflects the commission at once.

✅ Now

  • You open the same trade.

  • No commission is deducted at the opening.

  • When you close the trade, $7 USD is charged from your available balance.

Advantages of the new method

Lower initial impact on your balance when opening multiple trades
✅ Better capital management, especially when trading large volumes
✅ All costs are still visible — just when the trade closes

We're implementing global best practices in financial services: trade now, pay later.
