Why can't I open trades on weekends?

If you’ve tried to open a trade on a Saturday or Sunday and couldn’t, that’s completely normal.
Here’s why:

Financial markets close on weekends

During weekends and public holidays, the main global financial markets are closed. This means:

  • No trading activity takes place

  • Banks don’t process transactions

  • There are no real-time price movements for most instruments

Why does this happen?

Markets like Forex, stocks, and commodities rely on the activity of central banks, stock exchanges, and financial institutions worldwide.

Since these institutions don’t operate on weekends, there’s no liquidity or price flow.
As a result, trading platforms like Libertex do not offer trading during this time.

When do markets reopen?

Financial markets typically reopen:

  • Sunday night in some time zones

  • Generally from Monday at 00:00 GMT

Exact opening times may vary depending on the instrument and platform you use.

Pro tip

Even if you can’t trade on weekends, you can use that time to:

  • Analyze past charts

  • Plan your trading strategies

  • Set alerts or mark key levels for next week

Remember: Preparation is just as important as execution in trading.
